District Elder Joe R. Williams was born on June 10, 1957 in Vance, Mississippi to Andrew and Doris Williams. He grew up in Clarksdale, Mississippi along with his two sisters and six brothers. Upon completing junior college, District Elder Williams joined the United States Army where he served for nineteen years and retired under the early retirement plan. On May 8, 1977, District Elder Williams was joined in matrimony to the lovely Treddie J. Coleman. District Elder Williams is the father of six children—Angie, Pamela (Michael), Lakesha, Joe Jr. (Carisma), Ronald (Charity), and Joshua (Ke’ell). They are also blessed to have eight grandchildren—Michael Jr., Alajah, Karizma, Nyla, Mikaela, Yazmine, Na’kyra, and Joe III.
During his time in service, District Elder Williams has been stationed in Ft. Dix, New Jersey; Ft. Lee, Virginia; Baumholder, West Germany; Ft. Jackson, South Carolina; Ft. Hood, Texas; Ft. Sill, Oklahoma; Indianapolis, Indiana; Stuttgart, West Germany; and Afcent, the Netherlands. It was during his tenure at Ft. Hood, Texas that District Elder Williams came into the knowledge of the Apostolic truth. At United Pentecostal Church of Killeen Texas, both he and 1st Lady Williams were filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus Name.
Upon his conversion, District Elder Williams remained faithful to the gospel. He and his family have been blessed to serve under and learn from the following anointed men of God: Suffragan Bishop Charles Meadows, Suffragan Bishop Melton, Elder Phillips, Bishop Tyson, Bishop Goldner, Bishop Frank A. Cuomo, Bishop Vanuel C. Little, and Bishop Norman L. Wagner. The teaching and preaching of these men were not in vain. District Elder Williams and family grew and prospered in the knowledge of God.
District Elder Williams retired from military service in 1995. At which time, he and his family made Lawton, Oklahoma their permanent home. Between 1995 and 1997, District Elder Williams returned to Cameron University to complete his degree. In the Spring of 1997, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Psychology with a double minor in Health and Physical Education. Since that time, District Elder Williams has also been blessed to complete his Master of Arts degree in the field of Biblical Studies (American Bible College Seminary). He was awarded his doctorate degree in the Summer of 2005. 1st Lady Williams is currently completing course work for her Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education at Cameron University.
In addition to being Pastor of True Love, District Elder Williams is also an on-call chaplain for Comanche County Memorial Hospital. He is also a member of the Oklahoma State Council Executive board and he serves as the council chaplain, member of the credentials board, and director of the Oklahoma State Men’s Ministry Auxiliary. District Elder Williams is truly enjoying the movement and direction of God in his life.
